These tiny epiphanies come standard with a trip to Virginia Beach. Days dedicated to golfing and fishing, playing in the surf and lounging on the beach - nights dedicated to dining and music, romantic boardwalk strolls and sleeping - have a way of changing you for the better. Perhaps nowhere else does the exciting story of our nation's past come to life more vividly than in Virginia's Historic Triangle of Williamsburg, Jamestown and Yorktown. In historic Williamsburg merchants sell their wares, craftspeople ply their trades and brave patriots whisper plans for revolution in the restored 18th-century capital of the Virginia colony. West of Williamsburg lies Jamestown, the first permanent English settlement in the New World, dating to 1607. In nearby Yorktown, Americans won their independence in 1781 during the last major battle of the American Revolutionary War. Combine our nation's history, two theme parks, numerous modern attractions and museums, and world-class shopping, dining and lodging, and you will discover a unique and thrilling vacation beckoning you to the Williamsburg area.
