The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center brings the Chesapeake Bay ashore to visitors in Bay Lab, a hands-on educational laboratory in Virginia Beach’s First Landing State Park, located at 2500 Shore Drive. The $1.6 million, 2,500 square-foot visitor and education facility houses a wet lab filled with aquariums, touch tanks, and powerful microscopes. Year-round programming at the lab and in-the-field explorations provide opportunities to “be a scientist” for a day. Call for program schedule, rates and reservations.

Just off Interstate 81 & 77, Exit 80 at Ft. Chiswell. Where Fun and Education come together. Park is open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10 AM to 6PM. Admission Adults $6.00, Children (under 13) $4.00, (2 & under) free. The Park has animals from six of the seven continents featuring exotic, wild creatures and a variety of "petting" animals. The park is divided into two main areas: The Petting Zoo and The Outback. The park features both a gift shop and a snack bar.

The Leesburg Animal Park offers the opportunity to get up close and personal with some of the friendliest animals around. On top of Roanoke's Mill Mountain, off the Blue Ridge Parkway and alongside the famous Roanoke Star, is an AZA accredited five acre zoo that exhibits 50 plus species of mammals, birds and reptiles. Animals include a Siberian Tiger, Snow Leopards, Red Pandas, Japanese Macaques, Bald Eagle and much more. Special events and educational programs throughout the year, picnic facilities, wildflower garden and a breathtaking overlook view of the Roanoke Valley.
