The Virginia Aquarium and Marine Science Center brings the Chesapeake Bay ashore to visitors in Bay Lab, a hands-on educational laboratory in Virginia Beach’s First Landing State Park, located at 2500 Shore Drive. The $1.6 million, 2,500 square-foot visitor and education facility houses a wet lab filled with aquariums, touch tanks, and powerful microscopes. Year-round programming at the lab and in-the-field explorations provide opportunities to “be a scientist” for a day. Call for program schedule, rates and reservations.

Push a button to make sparks fly. Build a crystal. Enjoy interactive exhibits in Light and Vision, Earth Science and more. Make music in the Outdoor Sound exhibit. Explore many visiting exhibits on topics including biology, ecology and natural history.

In the Science Center's Butterfly Station learn about local plants that attract butterflies. Look for cocoons, mix nectar and map a Monarch butterfly's migration.
