Located in Richmond, Adventure Challenge is an hour's drive from Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, and Charlottesville, and about two hours from Northern VA, Washington D.C., and Virginia Beach.
You can participate in a scheduled activity and benefit from our package rates, or have us arrange an activity for your business, church, school, or private group. Previous experience is not necessary for most of our outings.

Back Bay Refuge contains over 8,000 acres. Habitats include beach, dunes, woodland, farm fields, and marsh. The majority of refuge marshlands are on islands contained within the waters of Back Bay. Approximately 10,000 snow geese and a large variety of ducks visit Back Bay Refuge during the peak of fall migration, usually in December. The refuge also provides habitat for a wide assortment of other wildlife, including threatened and endangered species such as loggerhead sea turtles, piping plovers, peregrine falcons, and bald eagles. Back Bay provides scenic trails, a visitor contact station, and, with advance scheduling, group educational opportunities. Fishing, hunting, bicycling and hiking are available. The Back Bay Refuge is located near Virginia Beach - south of Sandbridge at the southern end of Sandpiper Road.

Beaverdam Park offers the only public freshwater fishing on the Middle Peninsula. Jon boats & canoes can be rented or bring your boat with electric motor to one of the boat ramps. The 635 acres of water offers great fishing & paddling. All Virginia fishing & hunting licenses are available at the Ranger Station. Take a walk on the beautiful nature trail or enjoy miles of multi-use trail (for hikers, bikers & horseback riders). If you are looking for a new workout stop by the exercise trail. The park has two shelters, a lodge & amphitheater to fill your reunion, party or meeting needs. Programs on owls, snakes, night canoeing and more for youth, adults & families are scheduled throughout the year. Fishing tournaments are held on the 3rd Saturday of May, June & September with an invitational tournament in October. Visit Beaverdam Park often.

With 733 acres, seven miles of shoreline on the Northern Neck’s Rappahannock River, and access to Mulberry and Deep creeks, visitors can explore a wide variety of tidal wetlands interspersed with agricultural fields and upland forests. Belle Isle features three picnic shelters, hiking, biking and bridle trails, a motor boat launch, overnight lodging at the Bel Air Mansion and the Bel Air Guest House, bicycle, canoe and motorboat rentals, guided canoe trips, a car-top launch area, restrooms, a universal access playground, canoe-in campsites, and conservation education programming and other interpretive programs. From Warsaw, take Route 3 to Route 354 and then Route 683 near Litwalton to the park entrance. From Kilmarnock, take Route 3, turn left on Route 201, right on Route 354 and left at Route 653 to the park entrance.

Located along the Rappahannock River the Chester F. Phelps Wildlife Management Area offers a wide array of outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, canoeing, and hikeing.
Most of the management area's 4,539 acres is rolling with low hills and shallow valleys. The steepest land occurs near the Rappahannock River which forms much of the property's western boundary.There are several small streams and a three acre pond along with the scenic Rappahannock River for fishing. Handicapped Accessible Trails are availiable to recreation areas.
CF Phelps Management Area, located near the village of Sumerduck, is accessible by route 651, either south from U.S. Route 29 through the Town of Remington, or from U.S. Route 17, one mile north of Goldvein Post Office.
