What you need A board and binding, plus boots and safety equipment like helmet and goggles

What it costs Snowboarding can get pricey. A high-end snowboard can cost anywhere from $150 to $500 or more, depending on the model and brand. Again, consider renting. However, some companies make inexpensive beginner boards for about $30. Boots and googles can easily run you another $75 or so. You’ll also pay a fee at the resort or facility (usually somewhere between $25 and $50).

Tip Your family should take a snowboarding training course, according to the Canadian Pediatric Society. Kids tend to take to snowboarding very quickly, but some – especially younger ones – may lack the balance and muscle strength to really master the sport until about age 10. You can find snowboards geared toward kids as young as five, but at many resorts, kids must be at least 6 or 7 to take group lessons. For the pantry:
