What it is
This is a totally gross activity kit that allows kids to make totally disgusting things like snakes, alien heads and brains - and then eat them.

The lab comes fully equipped with a gummy creature injector, gross and tasty food packets, lab equipment, a lab link building system and experiment (recipe) cards.

The gross element comes from colors and the interaction of sugar with things like baking soda.

Why it’s fun
Gross is always fun, particularly when a child has an adult audience. The real fun, of course, comes from the child knowing that what he or she is eating is candy, while the adult "thinks" the child is really eating a bug, or some foaming brains -- or worse.

While the candy is delicious, despite how it looks, kids enjoy the process of making the goodies more than actually eating them.

Who’s going to love it
Both boys and girls love making their own gross looking candy and despite its appearance, the candy tastes really good. For boys, especially in the 7- to 8-year-old range, gross is unceasingly hilarious.

Parents will appreciate project-based play like this on rainy or cold days when kids are stuck indoors.

What to be aware of
Essentially, this is all sugar, so parents should monitor consumption.

This can be messy so be sure to set it up in a place where it is easily cleaned up.

For more disgusting yet edible fun, the Dr. Dreadful line also includes the Demented Drink Lab, sold separately, which comes with everything you’ll need to whip up some tantalizing liquid concoctions.

If your kids use all the included food packets, additional packets for both the Freaky Food Lab and Demented Drink Lab are also sold separately.
