What it is
iZ is an out-of-this world freakazoid character, who stands about 9 inches tall, has googly eyes, trumpet-like ears and a metallic body that comes in red, blue or green.

In play, you create music using iZ as the instrument. Just twist one of its ears to select a rhythm, then twist the other ear to choose a lead. Twang the dilly bopper on top of iZ’s head to add funny sound effects and Voila! You’re making music.

iZ also has a speaker that will allow it to play any music source through the headset jack, but this isn’t just a passive speaker. iZ will make comments, sounds and experience flatulence above the music as it plays.

Why it’s fun
In addition to the music making appendages on iZ’s head, there is also a dial on its belly that allows you to speed up or slow down the tempo of the music you’ve created.

While you’re making music, iZ is dancing along with lights and animated facial expressions.

We found that this is fun both as an impulse toy just to fiddle with and for certain kids it became a fully immersive, creative play experience.

Who’s going to love it
The Sputnik-era design may make some baby boomers take notice but iZ is really more of a toy, and is most fun when it is being used to create a variety of sounds and music "tracks."

If you put it on your coffee table, don’t be surprised if any adults can’t put it down.

What to be aware of
iZ requires four AA batteries, which are not included.
