Where: 75 miles/120 km north of Vancouver via the scenic Sea to Sky Hwy

The pedestrian-friendly village at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb mountains features the longest ski season in North America (mid-November to early June, followed by two months of glacier skiing). It’s a resort that is top with teens because of its lively village, with movie theatres, an indoor rock climbing wall, youth center, pool, all attractions that can be discovered by foot. In two or five-day "Ride Tribe" ski and snowboard camps, 12-to-18-year-olds learn tricks on fun terrain and with the same instructor and classmates. The resort also boasts five terrain parks; a kids’ adventure park on each mountain, where kids can take off their skis and slide and climb around a castle or tree-house; a new family snow tubing park; and designated Family Mountain Zone, where the pace is slower for families who want to ski together. For younger tots, daycare starts at three-months-old (parents get pagers). Lessons begin at age three for skiing and six for snowboarding. Accommodations range from slope-side condos and hotels, to bed and breakfasts. Watch for special family packages, including "Discover Whistler Days," which includes 50 percent savings on ski lessons. Book the ski school and rentals in advance. For more information check out Tourism Whistler, or call 1 (800) WHISTLER.
