Piggy Bank Bottle Craft

Think of all the fun you'll have and the money you'll save with this piggy bank craft.

Parental supervision is required for use of sharp scissors.

This project is rated EASY to do.

What You Need
  • Plastic Heinz ketchup bottle (the upside-down variety works best)
  • Sharp scissors
  • Paint (pink or whatever color you'd like the piggy bank to be)
  • Googly eyes (or these can be drawn on with a marker)
  • Craft foam (or felt, for the ears)
  • Pipe cleaner (also known as chenille stem)
  • Tacky glue (or other liquid arts-and-crafts glue)
How To Make It
  1. Remove label, wash, rinse and dry out bottle. Keep the cap.
  2. Using sharp scissors, puncture, then cut the slot for the change on the side of the bottle. Also pierce a tiny hole at the back of the bottle for the tail. Be sure to cut smooth to prevent any sharp edges.
  3. Paint the outside of the bottle, including the cap. Let dry.
  4. Screw cap back onto the bottle.
  5. Wrap the pipe cleaner around your finger to create a coil. Bend a small hook on the end of the coil — this will help the tail stay in place. Insert into the pierced hole at the back of the bottle.
  6. Cut two ear shapes out of foam or felt and glue to each side of the bottle.
  7. Glue or draw on eyes and nostrils.
  8. Fill with spare change. When full, screw off the nose (cap) and enjoy your savings!
