QUIZ: Are You Raising a Confident Daughter?

By Karen van Kampen

Question 1 of 8

Your seven-year-old daughter refuses to go to the public pool with her friends because she thinks she looks fat in a bathing suit. What do you do?

Listen to your daughter to understand the reasons behind her negative body image. If she's upset by how she looks in that particular swimsuit, have a friend she trusts help pick out another suit that makes her feel more comfortable.
Tell her not to be ridiculous as you herd her into the pool change room.
Say that she should feel good no matter what she looks like, even though you wear a giant T-shirt over your swimsuit.
