• Throughout his career, Tie Domi was dedicated to the well-being of the City of Toronto, and especially to Toronto’s children
• On the occasion of Tie’s retirement, we propose to honour him by creating the new and improved facilities for Rehabilitation at SickKids. “The Friends of Tie Domi Rehabilitation Clinic”
• Consistent with Tie’s legacy, this space will ensure the physical well-being of children

The Challenge

• The current space for patients in need of Rehab at SickKids is cluttered and out-of-date
• These facilities should be a destination that children look forward to visiting instead the current space requires much needed enhancement and improvement
• The children using these facilities are among our most vulnerable and are most in need of “hope and inspiration”

Vision

A Place for children to play and heal
• Our vision for “The Friends of Tie Domi Rehabilitation Clinic” is to provide children in need of rehabilitation with a fun, family friendly facility designed by Gluckstein Design, Toronto’s pre-eminent design firm
• With generous support of caring individuals and corporations “The Friends of Tie Domi Rehabilitation Clinic” can become a special destination in the hospital, bridging the positive characteristics of hockey and sportsmanship with world-leading advances in children’s health
• The Friends of Tie Domi Rehabilitation Clinic will be equipped with personal memorabilia from Tie Domi and Maple Leafs, giving the kids a special sense of excitement while at the same time providing a facility of first rate comfort as they work toward their recovery
• Tie’s participation in the development of this facility, along with his well known commitment to excellence will be a positive source of hope and inspiration to the children using these facilities

Together we can make it happen

• Rehab plays a pivotal role in treating childhood illness and injury
• Seeking to excel in research and care, Rehab promotes the well-being of patients and their families
• The newly improved facility will house three main divisions:

Occupational Therapy - When a child is experiencing difficulty with daily functioning (in play, self care or school skills), an Occupational Therapist works with the child and their family to facilitate the child's optimum potential
Physiotherapy - provides therapeutic treatment programs for children with acute respiratory problems such as pneumonia or following cardiac or abdominal surgery. Chronic respiratory disease processes are also addressed with a range of interventions including exercise
Orthotics - The Centre for Orthotics & Medical Devices at SickKids provide services to the following programs:

• • Rheumatology
• • Neurology
