Classroom Party Ideas

Who says the classroom has to be a serious place? These fun classroom party ideas will have the kids loving school again!

School doesn't have to be serious all the time! And whether you want to celebrate a child's birthday, your favorite holiday or season, the end of the school year, etc... you'll just love these school party ideas. They're perfect for parents or teachers!

Before You Start Planning...

If you want to plan a classroom birthday party, it’s important to find out the school’s policy for celebrating birthdays first. Does the school permit classroom parties? If so, do teachers set aside one day each month to celebrate the birthdays of all students born that month or a few minutes at snack time or recess on the day of each child’s birthday? The answers to these questions will help you determine whether or not you will need to prepare activities and/or treats for the class.

Invitations

For invitations, use card stock or construction paper folded in half, and decorate it with cutouts or stickers that reflect the event you're celebrating. You can also use our easy, printable party invitations. Or purchase personalized or pre-printed classroom party invitations online. We recommend mailing your invitations three to four weeks prior to the party—any sooner and your guests may forget, any later and your guests may already have plans.

What You’ll Need

If you plan to use paper tableware and school party supplies, our Suggested Party Supply List may be quite helpful. Please note that you may not need everything on the list; it is intended only as a guide.

Pick a color scheme based on what you're celebrating. Then stock up on balloons and streamers in the color scheme of your choice. For goodie bags, purchase school party favors, such as markers, pencils, stickers and assorted candies. Place all of these items inside clear or printed cellophane bags, and tie the bags closed with pretty ribbons.
